Santa Cruz County has a long history of defending our coastline — from grassroots efforts led by groups like Save Our Shores to strong partnerships with local, state, and federal leaders who helped turn that advocacy into lasting protections for Monterey Bay.
Now the federal government is proposing new offshore drilling off California, including waters along our Central Coast. That puts our beaches, marine life, fisheries, and coastal economy at real risk.
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has opened a 60-day public comment period.
